Privacy policy
Forecast is a forecasting practice app: you make probability forecasts about world events and see how accurate you were. This policy explains what we collect and why. There are no ads, no trackers and no data sales.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a password, stored only as a salted hash.
- Profile: an optional display name and handle, and whether your profile is public.
- Forecasts: the probabilities you submit, any reasoning you write, when you made them, and the scores, rating, Elo and points that follow.
- Research (optional): if you join the research study, your consent and the study condition you were assigned.
- Sessions: a sign-in token kept on your device and a hashed copy on our server.
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, device identifiers or advertising IDs, and the app contains no third-party analytics or advertising code.
How we use it
To run your account, score your forecasts, show your track record and challenges, and, if you opt in, for the research study. Research exports are anonymised.
What others can see
Nothing, unless you turn on a public profile. A public profile shows your display name, handle, rating, achievements and resolved forecasts. Open forecasts always stay private.
Who processes it
Forecast runs on Cloudflare (hosting and database). To create and check questions, our server reads public data from sources such as Wikipedia, USGS, GDACS, Launch Library, Coinbase, Polymarket and Kalshi. We never send them your personal data.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Profile and choose Delete account. Your account, profile, forecasts, scores and points are deleted immediately. If you were an administrator who resolved questions, the resolution records are kept as anonymous audit evidence, and your email, name, handle and password are erased.
Children
Forecast is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
